Ledgerock Blended Installation

  Step 1: Planning

  1. Draw a sketch that includes measurements of the area to be landscaped to help determine the quantity of slabs, curbs and base material required.
  2. Choose your patio slab type and size. (Please note: Although our patio slabs are very strong, you will need to use paving stones for a drivable surface.)

  Step 2: Excavation

  1. Excavate the soil to a depth of 15cm to 20cm (6" to 8") below the final grade of the patio or walk.
  2. Replace the soil with 8cm to 13cm (3" to 5") of frost-free granular material to create a firm base and allow for proper drainage.
  3. Compact the base material to the desired grade and contour using a mechanical vibrating plate tamper.
  4. Spread a loose layer of sand approximately 2.5cm (1") thick over the entire area. Draw a straight board across a guide (such as edge restraint curb or parallel pipes laid on the base) to evenly spread the layer of sand for the bedding course. The depth of the sand should allow for the thickness of the slab and a small amount of compaction. Do not compact, walk on, or disturb the levelled sand.

  Step 3: Laying the Slabs

  1. Start the first slab at a straight edge or string line.
  2. Continue nesting each slab in place according to your chosen design.

• Step 4: Completion

  1. Use a push broom to evenly distribute stabilizing sand into the joints between the slabs.
  2. Treat the surface with a sealer to ensure protection against stains and spills.
